“It’s (still) thinking.” Happy Birthday, Dreamcast!!!

The legendary Dreamcast turns 11 today (DOB: 9/9/99 – who could forget!), and if my posts thus far haven’t given me away, I am a HUGE Dreamcast fan! Who doesn’t remember the orca scene in Sonic Adventure, the jaw-dropping beauty of Soul Calibur‘s arcade-perfect port, or tagging your first sign in Jet Grind Radio. I couldn’t let today pass without commemorating such a special occasion.

Proof that there’s a rabbit on the moon – Looney Tunes: Space Race

Image from Wikimedia CommonsTonight I’m bringing you another game that “serious” gamers may have overlooked due to the “kiddy” factor. Looney Tunes: Space Race is a cel-shaded Mario Kart clone set in space (meaning floatier physics) based off of a cartoon license. Revival Request: Cool Cool Toon

ICG Cool Cool ToonThanks to officially supported emulation on today’s consoles (via Virtual Console, XBLA, and PSN), we’re seeing more and more games given a second life through digital distribution. Recently, it was announced that two Dreamcast games would be coming this year as downloads for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Considering that the Dreamcast is easily this blogger’s favorite system, now is the perfect time to talk about other DC games that I’d like to see show up in the future. ICG is going to refer to these pleas for re-releases as “revival requests.” (continue reading…)
